These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tesoro mobile application (the "App"). By downloading, accessing, or using Tesoro, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
Tesoro is currently operated by an independent developer based in Canada ("we," "us," or "our"). If Tesoro is later operated through a registered business entity, these Terms will be updated to reflect that change.
For how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy — these Terms and the Privacy Policy together form the full agreement between you and us.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or otherwise using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms, and that you meet the eligibility requirements in Section 3. We may update these Terms from time to time (see Section 9); continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
2. Description of the Service
Tesoro is a personal budgeting and expense-tracking application. It lets you manually log expenses, import bank/credit card statements, scan receipts, and view spending summaries, category breakdowns, and a Monthly Recap.
Tesoro is an organizational tool, not financial, tax, investment, or legal advice. Any summary, category suggestion, or insight generated by the App — including AI-assisted categorization — is provided for informational purposes only. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of your own financial records and for any financial decisions you make. We recommend consulting a qualified professional for financial or tax advice.
Tesoro does not currently connect directly to bank accounts, move money, or process payments. If and when an optional bank-sync feature launches, it will be read-only, as described in our Privacy Policy — Tesoro will never be able to move money, make payments, or modify any connected account.
3. Accounts and Eligibility
- You must sign in using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the Apple or Google account used to access Tesoro, and for all activity that occurs under your Tesoro account.
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the applicable minimum age for consent to use online services in your jurisdiction) to use Tesoro. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm you have permission from a parent or guardian.
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of any expense, category, or financial information you enter, import, or scan into the App.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates any applicable local, provincial, national, or international law.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another user's account or data, or to any part of Tesoro's systems or infrastructure.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the App's servers or infrastructure, including attempting to bypass rate limits or security measures.
- Use any automated system (bot, scraper, etc.) to access the App in a manner that sends more request messages than a human could reasonably produce in the same period.
- Upload or submit any content through the App that is unlawful, fraudulent, or infringes on the rights of others.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section, per Section 6.
5. Subscriptions and Payment
Tesoro is currently free to use, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. We do not currently process payments of any kind.
If we introduce a paid subscription tier in the future, it will be offered through Apple's In-App Purchase (StoreKit) system, in compliance with Apple's App Store guidelines. Before any paid tier launches, these Terms will be updated to disclose: pricing, billing frequency, auto-renewal terms, and how to cancel — consistent with Apple's required subscription disclosures. You will not be charged for anything without clear advance notice and your explicit action to subscribe.
6. Termination
You may stop using Tesoro at any time, and may permanently delete your account and associated data at any time directly within the App (Profile → Delete Account), as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms (including Section 4), engaged in fraudulent or abusive behavior, or if we are required to do so by law. Where practical, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you of the reason for any suspension or termination.
7. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the App — including any financial decisions made in reliance on information shown in the App. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law (including certain consumer-protection laws in Canada).
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the App will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia, Canada.
9. Changes to These Terms; Contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the App.
